Second place went to Rockdale clients Enokurra Farms, Rob Campbell, Mingenew with a line of 114 lambs sired by Rockdale Prime SAMM lambs.
Running through all the data collected over the period of the competition from July 15, 2008, to February 26 this year, WAMMCO's supply development manager Rob Davidson said that among the highlights was the continual improvement in the quality of entries in meeting specifications, the diverseness of the genetics evaluated from 12 terminal sires and 11 maternal lines, and the extremes in lean meat loin and carcase yields.
Several records were set this year, the first being the fact that there were more than 100 entries, 102 from 87 producers, up by four from last year. They supplied 21, 127 lambs compared to 18, 361 for the 2007-08 competition.
Each carcase was assigned weight and grade points with a plus or minus VIAscan loin bonus points.
